Lichtenberg, who, after Hume, also battled with the ego, was still bolder. As a philosopher of impersonality, he corrects our verbal “I think”, into an objective “it thinks”, thereby showing ego is a grammarians invention (Hume also ended his presentation explaining any dissension about identity as a quarrel of words).

Philosophe de l’impersonnalité, il corrige notre « je pense » verbal, en un objectif « cela pense » voulant montrer par là que le moi est une invention de grammairiens (Hume aussi finissait son exposé en expliquant toute dissension au sujet de l’identité de la personne comme une querelle de mots).
