Anxiety, I announced to you first in the Seminar of two years ago, anxiety manifests itself tangibly in a first approach as referring – and in a complex fashion – to the desire of the Other. From this first approach, I indicated that the anxietyprovoking function of the desire of the Other was linked to the fact that I do not know what object a I am for this desire.

Comme je vous l’ai annoncé dès le Séminaire d’il y a deux ans, l’angoisse se manifeste sensiblement comme se rapportant de façon complexe au désir de l’Autre. Dès ce premier abord, j’ai indiqué que la fonction angoissante du désir de l’Autre était liée à ceci, que je ne sais pas quel objet a je suis pour ce désir.
