Desire to disappear by David Bernard

One thing, for example, will be to feel “null” and “fool/cunt”** at the same time. Null. because suddenly experiencing one’s subjective vacuity $, and ” fool/cunt” in the sense that Lacan understood it : of a subject identified with its jouissance. But anything else will be the reduction of the subject to this supreme embarrassment that I mentioned above. His image attacked and reduced to a stain, the subject will be able to see himself seen, ashamed, as waste of the world. And thus also, to desire to disappear really. To leave the scene of the world, to join, in act, “this fundamental exclusion where he feels himself “. To leave the scene to make cease this ontological experienced. To succeed by the passage by the act to erase himself, that is to say, to be “erased to the maximum by the bar” this bar whose object strikes the subject. To “let oneself fall” really, to “realize” in full its condition of object a to cease to see itself being seen like that, “unjustifiable body “. “The object a, Lacan will say again, is what you are all, as you are arranged there – so many pseudo-births of what has been, for those who have engendered you, the cause of desire “.

Riviere thought he would write before killing by Peter and Favet

He [Pierre Rivière] had first thought write a memorandum in which the act and its motives would be recorded, committe the triple murder, post his writing and then kill himself.

Ashamed to live by Albert Cohen

“Allons enfants de la patrie”*, I murmured mechanically, and I decided not to breathe anymore in order to die and punish them. To this end, I pinched my nose between the thumb and the index finger, I tightened my lips and I began to count mutely to encourage me to die. At thirty, suffocating, I reopened my mouth, I freed my nostrils and I started to live again shamefully.

Shame strikes the incarnation by Sylvie Sesé-Léger

Wasn’t shame, previously, sufficient in itself as a sanction for real or imaginary crime? Shame strikes the incarnation, the body of the subject who “blushes with shame”, exhibiting without possible escape the mark of infamy inscribed with a red-hot iron. Like the scarlet letter worn on the woman’s dress…. To the point of having wished to die, to disappear from the dishonorable scene by entering under ground.

Killing an object with whom he has identified himself by Sigmund Freud

For analysis has explained the enigma of suicide in the following way: probably no one finds the mental energy required to kill himself unless, in the first place, in doing so he is at the same time killing an object with whom he has identified himself, and, in the second place, is turning against himself a death-wish which had been directed against someone else.  Nor need the regular discovery of these unconscious death-wishes in those who have attempted suicide surprise us (any more than it ought to make us think that it confirms our deductions), since the unconscious of all human beings is full enough of such death-wishes, even against those they love

Misogyny and antisemitism common root by Sigmund Freud

I cannot make in the coherence of my speech a sufficient interruption to show what is typical in these unconscious thought paths that I lend to little Hans. The castration complex is the deepest unconscious root of antisemitism, because from his early age the boy hears that something is cut off from the Jew – a piece of the penis, he thinks – and this gives him the right to lead the Jew. Likewise, the morgue towards the woman has no stronger unconscious root. Weininger, the highly gifted and sexually disturbed young philosopher who, after his remarkable book “Sex and Character“, ended his life by suicide, in a remarkable chapter, gratified the Jew and the woman with the same hostility and overwhelmed them with the same outrage. Weininger was completely under the sway of his infantile complexes; and from that standpoint what is common to Jews and women is their relation to the castration complex.

Freud added his footnote on this sentence :

[…] would there indeed be living beings who do not pose a widdler ? Then it would indeed no longer be so unbelievable that the widdler could be taken away from him, to make him a woman in some way!
